independent company offering a comprehensive design service in the
fields of electrical, electronic, control and vision system design.
We draw upon our network of specialists to provide a complete solution
to your requirements. We have over thirty years of design experience
and can offer an efficient and cost effective solution to your design
problems.
We also offer a project management service covering a wide range of
areas. We have many years experience helping businesses from concept
and design stages to final product.
Our technology can benefit your business, shorten production times,
minimise waste and ultimately result in satisfied customers.

MACHINE VISION SYSTEMS
Machine vision systems are used in production environments
to measure, locate and identify components. The cameras shown below
work in a stand alone mode and can report results to the factory SCADA
system.
Design Synergy Ltd. are approved system integrators for Cognex vision
systems who are the world leaders in vision technology. We offer
a complete turnkey solution to your requirement by drawing from
our extensive experience in the application of vision systems and
the range of products and ancillary equipment offered by Cognex.

ELECTRONIC & PCB DESIGN
We use the National Instruments Ulticap drawing package to
design our schematics and the UltiBoard design tools to transfer
the schematic into a printed circuit design. This gives complete
control over the design process and also produces the artwork and
documentation which the PCB manufacturer requires.
We work with a PCB manufacturer who gives competitive rates for prototype
boards and small batch production and who can produce the prototypes
in a short time.
We can also offer a manufacturing service and testing facilities
for small scale production.

BESPOKE MACHINE DESIGN
We undertake all aspects of machine design and manufacture
including mechanical, electrical, electronic and software. Our experience
covers the design and manufacture of small machines to complex systems.
Our approach to machine design allows the customer to explore a number
of concepts and to evaluate the savings that automation will provide.
•Initial discussion with customer to provide a broad specification/s
•Concept drawings and target pricing
•Final specification agreed with customer inc. time scales,
payment schedules etc.
•Detailed drawings discussed with customer prior to manufacture
•Manufacture and testing
•Trials at our site
•Trials and training at the customer's site
•We also provide:
•Twelve months warranty on parts and labour
•CE marking
•Full documentation

GALLERY

This is a manually loaded inspection system utilising
the Cognex Insight 5400 colour sensor and a food quality conveyor.
It is designed principally for the food industry and has a suitable
IP rating so that it can be washed with a jet of water. However
it is also suitable for a large range of inspection tasks:
1 ) Inspection and measurement of shape, size and colour.
2 ) It can handle a large range of programmes and therefore changing
from one inspection task to another is straightforward.
3 ) Touch screen to allow the operator to select the inspection task
and view live images and results.
4 ) Network connection so that images and results can be viewed remotely.

This is a light tight enclosure mainly designed for
the analysis of coloured objects. These are introduced onto a drawer
at the base of the enclosure. The appropriate colour analysis programme
is selected and results are reported via the touch screen. The
system is also available without the touch screen but with a network
connection to a local laptop. The enclosure contains a 5400 colour
sensor, all the necessary control devices and power supplies together
with a colour corrected light source.

In order to achieve a cost effective solution it
was decided that this machine should utilise the dexterity of an
operator rather than the costs of full automation using bowl and
linear feeders. This resulted in a compact design fitting into
an existing workspace at a realistic price. This is a complex assembly
system for small components. It is controlled by a Mitsubishi PLC
and uses Parker stepper motors to achieve accurate positioning.
The operator loads the individual components onto the rotating
turntables and the machine assembles and delivers the complete
unit. The PLC controls the stepper and pneumatic movements and
allows the operator to monitor production and the status of the
machine via a man/machine interface.

This robotic cell was designed for development work
within a University environment. It has interchangeable heads each
with its own control system which is integrated with the robot
controller.
